Background

Working for a leading law firm we were aware of some research that suggested that only 1 in 10 businesses (and individuals) seek professional legal advice when they have a legal need, so we tried to find out why.

We didn’t have to be rocket scientists to realise that the perceived cost of using a law firm like MWB was one of the key reasons. Particularly if the matter is relatively straightforward. Another reason was about having the time. If you work office hours or run your own business, it can be difficult to make time to see one of our expert solicitors.

We thought that there had to be another way, and we initially considered how we could give small business owners access to legal support at an affordable price. We wanted small businesses to be protected by the law, rather than at risk from it.

With much head-scratching, idea bouncing and nearly a year of development, we came up with LawEasier; and launched a web-based subscription model that couples clever technology with expert legal know-how. Since we launched in 2017, LawEasier has helped hundreds of members with their business legal needs, but this solution didn’t suit everyone.

Pay As You Go Legal Documents

When the global pandemic hit in 2020, we saw demand for online solutions shoot up, so we set about developing LawEasier further to help individuals as well as businesses. We added a ‘Pay-As-You-Go’ (PAYG) option allowing clients to use only what they needed without becoming full members. These documents are available on a ‘try before you buy’ basis, so you only pay if you are sure it is right for you.

Business Memberships are priced from just £35 + vat per month and our PAYG documents start at just £10 + vat. Access to legal services has never been more affordable. Our online legal guides are kept instantly up to date when the law changes and the hundreds of legal documents you can create are bespoke to your needs and will stand up in court as if one of our solicitors had drafted them.

We think we have made the law more affordable and more accessible for you and small businesses, and we are pretty pleased with ourselves as a result.
