If you recently bought a ticket for a train journey that was delayed by more than an hour or if the train was cancelled, you can use this letter to complain to the train operator and claim compensation, if the reason for it was within its control. You must make this claim within 28 days of the scheduled journey if claiming for a delay or 28 days from the ticket expiry date, if claiming for a cancellation. You may be entitled to a full refund for the price of the ticket or a refund for the affected part of the journey, depending on whether or not you decided to travel.
